Here’s a bit of trivia for NFL fans: the Seattle Seahawks are the only team in NFL history to appear in both the AFC and NFC Championship games. That’s because they’ve had an unusual history, entering the NFL in the NFC in 1976, switching to the AFC after one season, then returning to the NFC in 2002.
The Seahawks reached their first Super Bowl in 2005, losing to the Steelers. Since then they’ve won one Super Bowl and lost another, with the result of their latest appearance pending at the time of writing. Over the last 20 years they are one of the NFL’s most successful teams, but that hasn’t led to a glut of books about them.
Aside from the titles written about every team (‘Tales from the Sideline’ etc), the list is pretty thin. If any Seahawks fans have any hidden gems that should be on this list, please let me know.
1The Official History of the Seattle Seahawks by Seattle Seahawks
Published to mark the Seahawks’ 50th season in the NFL, this official history is the most comprehensive single-volume account of the franchise. It profiles every head coach, ranks the team’s 50 greatest players, and revisits defining games, such as the Super Bowl XLVIII victory.
As you’d expect from an official release, the photography and archival material are first-rate. A limited-edition version was also sold through the Seahawks’ Pro Shop, underlining the book’s role as both a historical record and a celebration piece. For fans looking for one authoritative overview of the franchise, this is the natural starting point.

2Win Forever by Pete Carroll
This is not a Seahawks book in the conventional sense, but it earns its place here because no individual has shaped the franchise more profoundly in the modern era than Pete Carroll. Written after Carroll’s hugely successful run at USC — where he won seven Pac-10 titles and two national championships — Win Forever sets out the philosophy he would bring to Seattle. The paperback edition includes an updated chapter reflecting on his first season with the Seahawks, making the link explicit.
Like many coach-authored books, it blends leadership advice with personal anecdote, but Carroll’s influence on Seahawks’ culture makes this essential context for understanding the team’s identity during its most successful period.

3The Boz by Brian Bosworth (with Rick Reilly)
Brian Bosworth remains one of the strangest and most memorable figures ever to wear a Seahawks uniform. The only two-time winner of the Butkus Award for college football’s best linebacker, Bosworth arrived in Seattle via the 1987 supplemental draft and immediately became the highest-paid rookie in NFL history.
His NFL career lasted just three injury-hit seasons and never matched the hype, but The Boz captures a moment when the Seahawks brushed up against genuine football celebrity. Written shortly after his arrival in the league, the book focuses heavily on his pre-NFL years, personality, and media presence — all of which made him a cultural figure as much as a football player.

4Notes from a 12 Man by Mark Tye Turner
Seahawks fans — the “12s” — are now among the loudest and most recognisable supporters in the NFL. Mark Tye Turner’s book, written before the franchise’s first Super Bowl win, offers a fan’s-eye view of how that identity developed.
Turner, a television writer, blends personal experience with team history, creating a nostalgic journey through the Seahawks’ early decades. It’s a reminder of what following the team felt like in the early days, right up to the end of the 2000s, with the team on the brink of its greatest success.

5The Franchise: Seattle Seahawks by Michael-Shawn Dugar
Subtitled A Curated History of the Legion of Boom Era, this is the most focused and analytical Seahawks book of the post-dynasty period. Dugar examines the rise and fall of the fearsome defence that carried Seattle to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl title.
The book looks at how the Legion of Boom came together, how it reshaped the Seahawks’ identity, and why it ultimately fractured. For readers who want depth on the team’s defining era, this is the sharpest account available.
